Dunkin Donuts (NASDAQ: DNKN) revealed it is preparing to hire 25,000 workers as restaurants begin to gain momentum after the global pandemic. The company will be advertising it’s first ever national campaign focused on attracting new personnel with its benefits.
The multinational coffeehouse chain will be partnering with Southern New Hampshire University, making an online college education available to store employees. According to a source familiar with the matter, the educational program was arranged before the pandemic.
“Dunkin’ is committed to keeping America running and working. We are proud to support our franchisees who offer much-needed job opportunities, in a welcoming environment where people can feel appreciated and rewarded for serving both customers and their communities during this critical time,” said Stephanie Lilak, Dunkin’ Brands senior vice president and chief human resources officer, in a statement.
As summer approaches so do signs of employment opportunities. Similar to Dunkin’, Taco Bell is looking to hire 30,000 employees this summer. The restaurant business has managed to boost jobs by 1.4 million in May compared to April.
“When you step back as a patriot, it’s really sad to see all of this. So you don’t wish that upon anyone. And so, that is, unfortunately what’s going on right now,” Dunkin’ Brands CEO David Hoffmann told Yahoo Finance. Hoffman is also one of the team executives in charge of advising President Trump on how to reopen the U.S. economy.
Hoffmann added: “But look, right now we’re just focused on taking care of Dunkin’ and Baskin Robbins and being a good corporate citizen in the communities we serve today. I think down the road, there’s a time to come and evaluate opportunities. That’s not our mission now.”
