The honour is reserved for female entrepreneurs who showcase their potential in the form of innovative ideas, solid business sense and promising plans for growth
All eyes were on Melinda Rombouts this week as the president and CEO of Eve & Co was named a recipient of the Ones to Watch Award.
Part of the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards, the honour is reserved for female entrepreneurs who showcase their potential in the form of innovative ideas, solid business sense and promising plans for growth.
“I am deeply honored to be named one of the recipients,” Rombouts said. “I want to recognize the hard work and support of my team who contribute every day to building and making Eve & Co a success. This award is a recognition of all our efforts and future potential, as we build the Eve brand, grow into our one million square foot facility and enter into the European market.”
Rombouts is one of five women being honoured in the category from a pool of thousands of nominees.
Eve & Co, through subsidiary Natural MedCo Ltd., holds licenses to produce and sell cannabis products. Natural MedCo became Canada’s first female-founded licensed producer of medicinal marijuana when Health Canada approved its cultivation licence in 2016.
The RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards, which will be held on Nov. 20 in Toronto, highlights female business owners who have made impressive contributions to the Canadian or global economies.
“These entrepreneurs have applied their intelligence, dedication and ingenuity to challenge the status quo of their industries,” said Alicia Skalin, co-CEO of Women of Influence. “[The] finalists are an exciting representation of the growth and innovation that is to come for Canadian business.”
