After last week’s nasty online spat, can a brawl (for charity) finally settle the score?
Paul Gascoigne (aka “Gazza”) and Snoop Dogg are at it again. Only this time, the former footballer is challenging the rapper to settle their differences in the boxing ring.
“Cannabis vs booze, bring it on,” Gascoigne told Good Morning Britain. “I’ll take him in the ring – I’ve been working hard, working out as usual.”
Gascoigne’s callout, for a charity match of course, is the latest chapter in an online spat that started last week when Snoop Dogg, in a seemingly unprovoked move, posted photos of both himself and the UK football legend to illustrate the negative effects of “alcohol abuse” vs “marijuana abuse.”
Gascoigne responded by posting a photo of a small dog styled to look like Snoop, and a tweet reading, “Morning Snoop Dogg get your lazy arse out of bed it’s walkies time woof woof you ugly t*** LOVE GAZZA xxx.”
Despite his bravado, Gascoigne, 52, admitted to being a bit disheartened by the social media storm. “To come from Snoop Dogg, I’m a fan of his as well. I can’t believe it,” he told Good Morning Britain.
The former footballer has bipolar disorder and has struggled with alcoholism and an eating disorder. “When I came out of treatment years ago I supported everyone and wished them well. So for him to attack someone like myself, for the trouble I put myself through, for him to do that was really bang out of orderI was really upset at the time. I tried to look at the funny side but there wasn’t one to be fair. I was shocked. He must have been on something,” he said.
No word yet on whether Snoop, who has a five-year age advantage over Gascoigne, will take him up on the boxing match.
