A Toronto company has developed a hemp CBD pill that it says will help relieve anxiety caused by ‘economic isolation.’ But it is only available in the U.K.
How do U.K. citizens deal with the ongoing chaos of Brexit? Toronto-based Choost Holdings does not have all the answers but aims to help relieve some of that anxiety with free samples of their CBD capsule Fog Clarity.
The two 25-mg hemp-based capsules are available to order on their website while supplies last.
This promotional stunt was conceived in part by Brett Chang, Choost’s COO, and the capsule itself is currently only available in the U.K.
“I was just there a few months ago and you can feel [the anxiety] on the streets,” said Chang. “I don’t think we have the silver bullet in the whole thing, but we think we have something that can help people.”
Chang cites a poll from the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which shows that 33 percent of respondents say the planned Oct. 31 split from the European Union is having a negative effect on their mental well being.
Twenty percent of Conservative voters reported negative effects, compared with 43 percent of Labour voters and 47 percent of Liberal Democrat voters.
Chang also cites a study from the Permanente Journal of Medical Science from January that showed a decrease in anxiety for 57 out of 72 patients within the first month of CBD use.
“I think we’re seeing a rise in anxiety for a number of reasons, whether that’s economic or social isolation and I think that’s part of the rise of the popularity of CBD,” said Chang. “It happens to be an all-natural solution to that.”
